Happy National Health Center Week!
Are you ready to celebrate all week long? National Health Center Week (NHCW) is a week-long celebration of recognizing not only our health center, but health centers all over the country who provide high quality, cost effective, accessible care to the under-served population. This year’s theme is “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: Innovators in Community Health.”
Without our amazing innovators and providers, Whitney Young Health would not be able to make the strides it does for the medically vulnerable and under-served people throughout the Capital Region.
Did you know fifty years ago, there were only two health centers in the U.S.?
Due to the great need and opportunities it provides, there are over 1,300 health centers today serving over 24 million Americans at more than 9,000 delivery sites in all 50 states.
Here’s a very special throwback for you all to enjoy. Since 1971, Whitney Young Health has been providing consistent quality healthcare to all ages in the community without regard to income. Throughout these four decades we have treated thousands of patients and expanded sites and services throughout the Capital Region. Today, WYH serves 19,000 patients ranging from newborns to the elderly.
Seeing these photos from the past remind us how important our mission has been and how important it is to continuously reinforce it every single day.
This week is the perfect opportunity to give recognition and thanks to the providers that made a positive impact in your life. So if you want to thank a provider who’s made a difference, tell us on our Facebook page here and use the hashtag #NHCW
Don’t forget! WYH is hosting our Watervliet Open House on Tuesday, August 9th from 9am – 1pm. Enjoy some food and drinks while meeting our staff, taking a tour of the facility, and even get insurance enrollment assistance if needed.
