In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, Whitney Young Health WIC hosted a Community Baby Shower for WIC participants to learn more about breastfeeding during World Breastfeeding Week. The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) department serves the needs of low-income families. Part of WIC’s mission is to encourage pregnant and new mothers to breastfeed their babies.
Dozens of families who are currently expecting babies and have young children attended the event to play some games, eat some great food and win prizes. Due to the community’s support, every family who attended went home with much-needed care packages with baby items!
In times like these, we are so lucky to live and work in such a wonderful community. Thank you to everyone who rallied around WIC after the flood a few weeks ago. We would not be able to pull off our Community Baby Shower without the generous donations from Proctors, the Capital Repertory Theatre, the Capital Region Chamber, St. Paul’s Center, MVP Health Care, the Women’s Business Council, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. and individuals from all over the Capital Region.
We received enough baby supplies to not only to give to the mothers and families our Community Baby Shower, but all throughout the year for years to come.
