Women's Health

As a woman, you want to be as healthy as possible. Knowing about your body is the first step in taking good care of it.

As a patient at Whitney Young you will receive more than just great health care. You will receive the preventive and educational tools you need to get healthy and stay healthy. Our caring doctors, nurses, and midwives will teach you about breast health and self-exams, pregnancy care and family planning, sexually transmitted infections (STI), and menopause.

At the same time, we'll work with you to provide you the best care possible. Whitney Young offers patients a safe, confidential place where you can talk openly about your concerns. No matter how old you are, where you are from, how much money you have, or what your sexual orientation is, we will treat you fairly and seek to meet as many of your health care needs as possible.

We can help you with:

  • Complete pregnancy and delivery care
  • Mammograms
  • Gynecological services
  • Family planning, including birth control (click here to download to family planning benefit brochure)
  • Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI)
  • Menopausal concerns and treatment

Whitney Young is also part of the Cancer Services Programs of Albany and Rensselaer Counties. These programs offers free breast exams, pelvic exams and Pap tests to women who have no health insurance or even limited coverage; meet certain income requirements; and are 50 years or older (younger women may be eligible, and should ask their health care provider for more information).

Mobile mammography services are also provided at our Albany and Troy Health Centers in partnership with Bellevue Hospital.
