WIC’s World Breastfeeding Week Celebration

Calling all moms and babies – it’s that time of year again! The first week of August marks World Breastfeeding Week, an annual week-long event that encourages breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. As one of three WIC offices in Albany County, our WIC program is full of dedicated staff who support breastfeeding moms not only throughout this week, but every day.

To celebrate the week, Whitney Young Health WIC hosted a baby shower and kids fun run on August 3rd at the Arbor Hill Softball Fields. The health fair was an opportunity to celebrate all of Whitney Young Health WIC’s clients and perspective families who may be qualified to receive WIC assistance. Twenty outside vendors, ranging from breastfeeding education to nutrition, were available for WIC families to utilize. Over $4,000 worth of breastfeeding and baby supplies was donated to benefit expecting, breastfeeding and working mothers and their children.

Whitney Young Health WIC is now on Facebook! Check the photos from the event and the latest news in breastfeeding and nutrition.
